1. The doctors have been able to discontinue his IVs of lipids and sugars/electrolytes/vitamins, which has allowed him to just receive his tube feedings of formula/milk. He has a little tube that goes into his mouth and down into his stomach. He likes to pull this one out at least once a day! :)
2. His feeding amounts are increasing daily. Hopefully, it will not be long before he can try bottle feeding.
3. He was a little jaundiced and was under the light for a few days but now no longer needs the light and has normal bilirubin levels.
4. He initially had a low platelet count, and it has now improved to normal levels.
5. Due to being born before 32 weeks, they had to do a head ultrasound to check for concerns. He had the ultrasound yesterday, and the results came back normal. Praise God!
6. He lost about 2 ounces and is now starting to trend in the positive direction with his weight.
7. He has been on oxygen since right after his birth, and today it was discontinued. He can now breathe on his own and has kept his oxygen levels up all day! :)
We continue to be amazed by how he is doing and the progress he is making. We give all of the glory to God as we know he is working lots of miracles around us and continuing to hear and answer our prayers! As of today, baby H would have been about 32 weeks gestation, so we think he is doing very well considering how premature he was! Based on our understanding, the main goal at this point is for baby H to gain weight! We are so thankful and feel so blessed that he arrived safely and is doing so incredibly well!
He will likely be in the NICU for awhile, but we are so grateful that he is doing so well! Thank you for your continued prayers for his health!
